Alzheimer's-Dementia Mission
Sunday Morning Devotions For more than six years Bethel of Woods Hole provided a weekly service of devotions on the Alzheimer's-dementia floor of a local nursing home. The gathering emphasized the sharing of love for one another, regardless of religious background.
Music has been a major part of our ministry to the elderly. Our songbook includes old favorites such as Count Your Blessings, Amazing Grace, Peace Like a River, Swing Low Sweet Chariot, and contemporary songs like This Land is Your Land, As the Deer, Let There Be Peace on Earth, and Trees of the Field (with clapping).
Photographs of animals and plants, including flowers in bloom, were brought in for sharing before the service and for placing in residents' rooms. Poster size reproductions are especially appreciated, both at the nursing home and at other Bethel ministry locations. Please see the following for examples:
