Reflections for A Season for Nonviolence
January 30th to April 4th are the dates for A Season for Nonviolence, a
time to think about what you can do to eliminate violence in our world.

WEEK 1--This week in the Season for Nonviolence think about the violence
humans perpetrate against the Earth.
What can you do to decrease your part in what you know is unsustainable
for the Earth, things the Earth cannot stand?
And think, too, about ways to love the Earth. How can you show more love?
WEEK 2--This week in the Season for Nonviolence think about violence
against animal beings.
Do you really need to eat them or use their bodies in other ways?
The raising of billions of animals for human consumption does violence to
the Earth, as well.
And think, too, about the many ways you can love animals and contribute
to their happiness and your own.
WEEK 3--This week in the Season for Nonviolence think about violence
against women and the attitudes that perpetuate it.
In what ways do you go along with gender inequality?
What might you do today to reject sexual stereotypes and role playing and
encourage others to do the same?
And think, too, about healing any sexual hurt within yourself and not being
afraid of it anymore.
WEEK 4--This week in the Season for Nonviolence think about violence
against your own body.
Have you been going along with the notion that mind is superior to body
or thoughts superior to emotions?
Do you see some parts of your body and their functions to be inferior?
This week think about how you can affirm the goodness of your whole body
and be well. And think the same for others.
WEEK 5--This week in the Season for Nonviolence think about all the
violence that spills out of us into the world, from all of the hierarchies
that declare some better than others.
Can you make a personal commitment today to nonviolence, to non-exploitation?
Can you let yourself be a free spirit on your own path of life, judging
no one and causing no harm to other beings?
What is a fun thing you can do today?
WEEK 6--This week in the Season for Nonviolence think about the full
range of violence perpetrated against the Creation - that against the Earth
and its living forms, that against animal beings made into slaves, that
against women, that against our very physical selves, and that against anyone
deemed inferior.
Think about the hierarchies we support that keep the violence going.
What do you need to do to be better informed so you won't be part of it?
What is the little bit of happiness you can add to the world today?
FINAL WEEK--Rest and review the reflections of the previous six weeks.
If you have not spoken to others about these subjects yet, perhaps you might
try some overtures. Don't be discouraged by denials. Move along and have
fun with it.
